IGI's report design changes aim to reduce confusion with natural reports

Updated report formatting is intended to make lab-grown reports more visually distinct from natural diamond reports at a glance, addressing confusion that has occasionally come up between the two.

• Older report designs sometimes required reading the fine print to confirm whether a stone was natural or laboratory-grown, which created room for accidental or deliberate misrepresentation.
• Newer formats use clearer heading text and, in some cases, distinct colour coding to flag lab-grown status immediately rather than requiring close reading.
• This complements physical laser inscription, which already marks most lab-grown stones on the girdle as laboratory-grown alongside the report number.
